Statement of CSOs concerning the Pressure on Self-Governments
Tbilisi. The civil society organizations
"Georgian Young Lawyers' Association", the "International
Society for Fair Elections and Democracy", "Transparency
International - Georgia" and "Article 42 of Constitution"
express concerns over facts of pressure on the local self-government
authorities in the various municipalities of Georgia."Interference and pressure
in any form over the local self-government activities, which prevents or
hinders their normal functioning, is alarming." – says the statement
released by the organizations.The organizations urge all political
parties and their supporters to refrain from any form of pressure on the
agencies exercising local self-governance, and they address respective
authorities to probe into the facts of pressure and apply relevant sanctions.
