Kakheti. Another meeting was held as part of the Kakheti Strategic Development Plan. The attending public has discussed the environmental issues. According to the expert KakhaSukhitashvili, a forest is one of the key natural resources for Georgia, and in the area of nature protection and development of natural resources there are issues that have their strengths and weaknesses: "In my opinion, the lack of professional staff, tendency to reduce the staff, the outdated and inefficient office equipment and inventory of the employees of the forestry sector, absence of inventory of forests and the outdated, almost useless forestry materials, as well as the absence of electronic forestry bases and information on the biodiversity (including the Red List species) of the Kakheti Region, and others are the pending weaknesses in the protection of nature and development of natural resources. Among the strengths are the rich biodiversity of the Kakheti Region, the diversity of forests, opportunity of using the Region's forests for the touristic and recreational purposes, substantial stocks of the forest's secondary resources (wild berries, mushrooms), and inclusion of indigenous and less affected parts of the Region's forests in the protected territories."
