Transparency responds to the statement of TV Company Imedi
Tbilisi. Transparency International Georgia responds to the official statement released by the TV Company "Imedi”.
On August 29 TV Company "Imedi” released the statement about temporary suspension of public-political programs. The programs "Reaktsia” and "Imedis Kvira” will not be broadcasted on "Imedi” channel in a new season. In accordance with an official statement of the TV channel, it is intended to change the format of public-political programs, while the new product will be offered to TV audience from 2016 and onwards.
"… TV Company "Imedi”, as a private company, is entirely free while planning activities of the channel, as well as its HR or information policies. However, as a common national broadcaster, it is accountable to the public. Respectively, "Transparency International Georgia” considers that the governance of the channel has to provide timely explanation of reasons and motives of its decision” - is noted in the response.
