Adjara.On December 12,
the Citizens' Advisory Council functioning with the Sakrebulo of the
self-governing city Batumi has organized a meeting with the representatives of
Batumi-based CSOs and media organizations. The meeting aimed at selecting the
two members of the Citizens' Advisory Council form each sector. Through a
secret ballot the media organizations have selected the representatives of the
Adjara TV-Radio Department and TV Channel 25. As for the CSOs, with the
majority of votes the Civil Society Institute and the Georgian Young Lawyers'
Association will become the members of the Citizens' Advisory Council. The
Citizens' Advisory Council is a consultative body functioning with the
Sakrebulo of the self-governing city Batumi, main purpose of which is to ensure
transparency, citizen participation and co-participation in the self-government
activities, as well as to submit recommendations on various issues of concern.
