''Patriotism and Cosmopolitism''
Guria. As part of
the Civic Education and Teacher Training Program, the essay competition on
"Patriotism and Cosmopolitism" was held at the initiative of the
Guria Youth Resource Center and the civic clubs and initiative groups of 20
target schools of the same program. The competent jury has assessed the
submitted essays and identified three finalists. On 12 December 2012, the
discussion on the same topic –
"Patriotism and Cosmopolitism" was held in the Ozurgeti Civic
Engagement Center. Civic education teachers, invited guests and members of the
civic clubs and initiative groups of target schools have participated in the
discussion. Meeting was held in a very interesting environment, the
participants discussed the importance and interrelation of patriotism and cosmopolitism.
In the second part of the meeting, the winner finalists of the essay
competition were awarded.
At the end of the meeting, the participating
initiative groups and civic clubs have shared information on the initiatives
carried out during the current education year. Total of 60 persons have
attended the event.

International with funding from the US Agency for International Development.
The Guria Youth Resource Center is a partner of the Program in Guria. 33
schools from the Guria Region are involved in the project.
