Tbilisi. The
"Caucasian Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development" will use
800,000 GEL received from the President's Fund for implementation of programs
focused on free media, local self-government, and religious and ethnic
minorities. Chairman of the CSO, GhiaNodia has stated about this at the
press-conference held on January 8. The "Caucasian Institute for Peace,
Democracy and Development" has received 800,000 GEL as part of the project
"Promoting the Development of Civil Sector and Free Media", developed
specially by the President's Administration. By the decision of the competition
commission, another organization - "ZazaDaraseli Journalism Development
Fund" - was also declared the winner, which will receive 200,000 GEL.
When
issuing the grants, the "Caucasian Institute for Peace, Democracy and
Development" will give priority to projects focusing on the activation of
citizens and development of on-line media. Prior to the launch of the program,
the Institute plans to set up the Board consisting of persons enjoying high
public reputation. According to him, January will be dedicated to setting up
the Board and defining the procedures, while the grant applications for the
program will be submitted from February.
