''Role and Freedom of Media in Georgia - Where is the Borderline?!''
Imereti. A discussion was held over this topic on
January 24 in Kutaisi, in the Civic Engagement Center, led by the journalist
Davit Liklikadze. Discussion participants have debated over the degree of
freedom of media in Georgia, the role of mass media means in the process of
formation of democratic society, and the attitude of the society towards media.
The opinion was formulated at the meeting that currently Georgian media is not
fully free, there are radio broadcasts or print media that exist independently
from the state authorities and that are free, but they lack financial support
and are incapable of covering Georgia to full extent.The discussion was organized as
part of the "Advancing National Integration in Georgia" (ANI)
project, which is implemented by the United Nations Association of Georgia with
the support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
