Tbilisi. IDFI publishes a blog post of Giorgi Lomtadze regarding a reform of the Public Broadcaster. The material broadly reviews financial, human resource management and other reform related issues of the Broadcaster.
"There is a large-scale reform ongoing at the Public Broadcaster. It depends on the progress of this reform as to how much the Broadcaster succeeds to fulfill its obligations stipulated by law - create and be the public good, and, what’s the most important, regain public confidence. However, the information we received confirms the sad reality that even during such significant changes the Public Broadcaster mostly happens to appear in an informational vacuum. It does not possess any financial and rating data up to 2016, while existing data is only general. In such circumstances it is impossible to reveal real problems and select right decisions for them. In case if decisions continue to be made in an informational vacuum, there will always be doubts that these decisions, such as for instance closing programs, might be based on subjective and political factors rather than objective estimates” – is stated in the material.
