Tbilisi. "International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy” (ISFED) responds to a statement made by Kakha Bekauri, Chairman of the National Communications Commission, at a press conference.
"On September 14, Kakha Bekauri, Chairman of the Communications Commission, conducted a press conference and assailed ISFED for its report published on September 13, which contained appraisal of a decision of the Commission to charge broadcasters with responsibility for verifying public opinion polls and to review the case of Rustavi 2”, - the statement reads, - "the press conference of Bekauri was unambiguously aimed at discrediting activities of the organization. At the press conference, held to assail ISFED, accusations of Chairman of the Commission were inconsistent, unsubstantiated and senseless. During the press conference and in a press release issued subsequently, along with various baseless accusations, Bekauri addressed donors of ISFED to review the funding of the organization. ISFED appraises discrediting statements made by Kakha Bekauri, head of a state administrative body, as a pressure and attempt to restrict the activity of the organization, which fact is absolutely inadmissible and is a threat to democratic development”.
