Tbilisi. The Open Society Georgia and Armenia Foundations have presented the report on October 23, which assesses the steps made towards the EU during the last year and the remaining challenges.
The report focuses on the fulfillment of obligations under the "Roadmap to the Eastern Partnership", adopted by Georgia and Armenia in May 2012. The document includes the reforms that the Governments of both states must undertake prior to the planned Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius on 28-29 November 2013.
In the report the researchers assess only a political section of obligations set by the Roadmap. Seven key areas are concerned: freedom of media, elections, fight against corruption, cyber safety, management of borders and foreign policy, and the local self-government and judicial reforms. As a result of monitoring, progress was identified in the fulfillment of majority of obligations stipulated in the document.
