Tbilisi. The President of Georgia has met with
the CSO representatives on January 23 and discussed ongoing political issues in
the country. While meeting with GiorgiMargvelashvili, CSO representatives have
raised prevailing problems in the country, discussed ways of their solution and
focused on future plans. In particular, discussion concerned the election
topics, self-government law, new procedure for examining witnesses, the topic of
Public Broadcaster, developments in Ukraine and other issues of public concern.As GiorgiMargvelashvili has noted,
similar meetings should take place in the future as well, so that in view of
the state interests public opinion is also taken into account during any
decision-making.The meeting with the President of
Georgia was attended by the heads of Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics,
"ISFED", Georgian Young Lawyers' Association, "Article 42 of the
Constitution", Association "Green Alternative", Institute for
the Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), "Transparency
International - Georgia", and Human Rights Education and Monitoring
Center.
