Tbilisi. On September12, the results of 15-month
monitoring of covering the ethnic, religious and sexual minorities' issues in
the Georgian press were presented in the Heinrich Boll Stiftung. 9 national and
3 regional print editions were selected for the monitoring. Monitoring covered
the period from 1 May 2011 to 31 August 2012. 12 print editions were selected
for the study: "Rezonansi", "Alia",
"KvirisKronika", "AkhaliTaoba", "Versia",
"KvirisPalitra", "Asaval-Dasavali", "24 Hours"
and "Weekend", "Prime Time", "Batumelebi",
"Southern Gate" and "AkhaliGazeti". Monitoring covered both
quantitative and qualitative analysis.
The
study on coverage of minorities in the Georgian press is carried out as part of
the project – "Addressing Hate Speech in
Georgia: A Litmus Test for Human Rights and Social Tolerance". The project
is funded by the EU and is implemented by the Heinrich Boll Stiftung's South
Caucasus Regional Office together with partner organizations
"Internews-Georgia", "Human Rights Center" and Association
"Atinati".
