Batumi. The Citizens' Advisory Council launches a
new working year. A deliberative-consultative body of the Sakrebulo, which
ensures the transparency of self-government activities and citizen
participation in its exercise, consists of 19 members elected for the term of 1
year. 2–2 of these are from non-governmental, business and media organizations,
and the remaining 13 from the city's territorial bodies. CSOs and media outlets
have elected 4 out of 19 members through a secret ballot. Elected by a majority
of votes from the civil sector were Natia Apkhazava (Civil Society Institute,
Batumi Branch) and Nino Tavlalashvili (GYLA, Batumi Branch), and from media
outlets - Maia Merkviladze and Irma Zoidze. Representatives of business sector
and territorial units are yet to be elected.
