Tbilisi. According to the information posted on the web site, CSO Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center will defend the interests of plaintiff over the constitutionality of punishment foreseen for the drug-related crime. "On 5 May 2014, with the assistance from the Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center (EMC), EMC's staff member Beka Tsikarishvili has addressed the Constitutional Court. ... In the plaintiff's opinion, the sanction stipulated in this norms violates the right to equality, prohibition of application of severe punishment and a person's free development guaranteed by the Constitution of Georgia, based on which he requests finding the disputed norm unconstitutional. EMC will defend the interests of the plaintiff in the Constitutional Court."
