''Dea'' Protects the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Samegrelo. To
improve the situation with the rights of persons with disabilities, the
legal-consultation center functioning with the Association "Dea” held a
meeting. The persons with disabilities, their family members, lawyers, NGO
sector and media representatives have attended the meeting held on October 19
in the Civic Engagement Center.
Lawyer of the
Association "Dea” Bakur Gogokhia has briefed the participants about concrete
examples of violation of the rights of persons with disabilities. The
discussion concerned persons who are unable to leave their homes due to
improper infrastructure. On its hand, the lawyer of the legal-consultation
center functioning with "Dea” Guram Kupunia has stated that "these people are
modest and do not file claims in court to protect their rights”.
The meeting was
attended by the students of the Zugdidi-based Shota Meskhia University, who are
involved in the work of the legal-consultation center and are eager to assist
the persons with disabilities in protecting their rights.
