Kakheti. Association "Elkana” held
consultation meeting with farmers in Akhmeta. The meeting was held within
framework of ACF International, the EU-funded
project - "Agricultural Cooperative Development in Georgia".The meeting was
aimed to assist farmers groups and representatives of agricultural cooperatives
to reveal business-oriented best ideas in the fruit and vegetable production
and processing sectors.As "Elkana” representatives say they have delivered information about EU
grant competition to the farmers. They also say that unregistered or registered groups of farmers who
intend to establish agricultural cooperatives as well as registered
cooperatives of farmers having agricultural status can take part in the
competition. As members of the association remark, one group/cooperative consisting
of 5 members can receive minimum 15000 or maximum 49000 EURO grant within the
project framework. To receive a grant 30% participation of the beneficiary is
required. The remaining 70% of the project price will be covered by grant.The deadline for the applications is September 22, 2014, 17:30.
