Tbilisi. The International Society for Fair
Elections and Democracy has released a statement in the social network."In recent days public attention was drawn to the
so-called raids carried out in Tbilisi, followed by mixed attitudes and often
the population's dissatisfaction.Pursuant to Article 24.3 of the Law of Georgia on the
Police, special police control measures are carried out based on the Minister's
order. On 9 September 2014 ISFED has approached the Ministry of Interior
concerning this issue.According to the official letter of the Ministry of
Interior, on 5 September 2014 the Minister of Interior has issued the order on
carrying out special police control measures stipulated in Article 24 of the
Law of Georgia on the Police in the territory of Tbilisi from 18:00 on 5
September 2014 until 18:00 on September 7.Under the Minister's order, the so-called raids must have
been continued from 6 pm on September 5 until 6 pm on September 7. It is interesting
if the law-enforcers have taken this fact into consideration.Have you witnessed citizens' inspection by the police on
other days or do you possess relevant piece of information?".
