Samtskhe-Javakheti. Aimed at increasing
public participation in the local self-government activities, representatives
of GYLA's Gori Office have organized a meeting on September 29 in the Akhaltsikhe
Civic Engagement Center.At the meeting the non-governmental sector, teachers,
students and media representatives have informed local self-government
representatives about problems and recommendations considered at previous
meetings.According to the Head of GYLA's Gori Office, similar
meetings will continue in respect of concrete areas. In particular, they will
examine infrastructural projects, social programs, as well as the budget and
the contest of civil servants.The project "Citizen Cooperation in the
Decision-Making of Local Authorities: Getting Familiar with the EU Experience"
was implemented in two countries, Georgia and Armenia through partnership of
the Armenian Young Lawyers' Association, the Georgian Young Lawyers'
Association and CSO "Agora CE". The project was funded by the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
