Judicial Exchange Program in the United States

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the Rule of Law Program administered by the East-West Management Institute (EWMI), is pleased to continue the judicial exchange activities.

The purpose of this initiative is to further strengthen the professional capacity of individual civil and administrative judges in Georgia to work effectively and efficiently, and to provide opportunities to gain knowledge and skills in both specific and more general subject areas.

The USAID Rule of Law Program has designed a number of activities to bring Georgian civil and administrative judges to the United States. As part of this program, in March-April 2023, a delegation of ten Georgian Civil and Administrative judges visited the United States. Namely, the study visit took place in Washington DC, New York, and Syracuse, New York State. Before that, in September 2022 a delegation of other ten Georgian Civil and Administrative judges visited Washington DC and Eugene, Oregon. The remaining scheduled visits will continue through the fall of 2026.

Consequently, the USAID Rule of Law Program is announcing a call for Georgian civil and administrative judges to submit their applications to participate in next, September 2023 judicial exchange program activity focused on the child`s rights and related matters. During the visit, Georgian judges will also be introduced to U.S. court practices on case flow management and people-centered justice.
