The government, business sector and citizens are looking for alternative means of transportation as Tbilisi is currently facing challenges with increasing traffic congestion, air pollution and road accidents. Bicycle can be considered as one of the alternative mobility options. Nowadays, there is not a developed bicycle network in Tbilisi as a form of urban transport and only a few number of people cycle on everyday basis. The lack of adequate infrastructure, the absence of designated bike lanes and parking facilities on one hand, and the lack of sense of safety on the road on the other, could be regarded as some of the reasons for the current situation.
