On July 6, 2023, the training program "Disinformation and Propaganda Studies: History, Theories and Ways of Debunking continues", created within the framework of cooperation between the Institute for the Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) and the University of Georgia (UG), was completed, and the participants of the training course were awarded certificates. “A total of 24 participants representing various universities, media outlets, civil organizations, and public institutions were involved in the 2022-2023 training program. Throughout the academic year, students were introduced to six courses, which included Principles of Strategy in Cyber Security; Identifying and Researching Disinformation; Disinformation and Society; Collective memory of nations and its role in Georgian politics and international relations; Archives, Facts, and Media, Strategic thinking”. Regions. IDFI held three days of training sessions in Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, and Zugdidi from June 21 to 23 on practical methods and techniques for monitoring government activities. Kakheti. Unlocking the potential of our youth is a vital step in shaping a society that cherishes equality, embraces diversity, and champions advocacy. That is why UNDP embarked on a journey to Kakheti Euroclub with the captivating photo exhibition “Faces of Diversity”. “During our engaging discussion with the local youth, we were truly inspired by their fascinating initiatives addressing human rights, gender equality, and inclusion. While visiting Kvareli Municipality, we met with more than hundred students from five different public schools. Our discussions revolved around the right to education, the safeguarding of minority rights, and the engagement of young individuals in shaping democracy. We drove into the accomplishments attained in these areas and addressed the prevailing challenges that demand our attention. After the insightful meetings in Marneuli, Tetritskaro, Akhaltsikhe, and Kvareli, we will continue our engagement with youth in other regions of Georgia. The series of discussions with youth is supported by Norway and Sweden as part of UNDP’s ongoing projects for gender equality, minority rights, and social inclusion”. The EU Delegation to Georgia has funded translation into Georgian and publishing of the European Commission’s Guidelines for teachers and educators on tackling disinformation and promoting digital literacy through education and training, developed in October 2022. “Developed with the support of the multidisciplinary Expert Group, the Guidelines are targeted at teachers and educators in primary and secondary levels of education, with some or no prior experience with digital literacy or disinformation. They provide hands-on guidance, practical tips and activity plans to foster an understanding of how to enhance digital literacy and provide practical knowledge about disinformation. Guidelines also offer advice on how to use digital technologies responsibly and how to assess student competences concerning digital literacy”. Tbilisi. The European Union (EU) co-founded the programme EU4Youth and created a Telegram chat-bot game Fair Employment. The game’s primary goal is to raise awareness and promote a better understanding of fair labour practices and standards that must be ensured before and after signing the contract for both young people and employers. “This game, among other EU4Youth initiatives, corresponds to the European Year of Skills 2023 activities aiming to increase people’s skills and empower them to navigate the labour market and its changes successfully and to engage in society and democracy fully”. Imereti. On May 1, The Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) held a training session for facilitators in the Baghdati Municipality City Hall. The goal of the meeting was to introduce the innovative model of participatory budgeting and inform the participants about the methodology of holding the forum. The training participants learned about important organizational issues when planning and organizing forums. The organizing committee selected the facilitators. Tbilisi. MAC Georgia’s Psychologists Anna Bezhanishvili & Tamar Kevkhishvili conducted Behaviour Management training for Tbilisi kindergarten N74. The training targeted kindergarten teachers, special teachers and psychologists at the school and focused on the following: Supportive System of Positive Behaviour; Functional Evaluation of Behaviour; Strategies of Managing Behaviour; With an emphasis on practical learning, the course walked through approaches to analyze and manage challenging behavior in the classroom.
