"Open Society - Georgia" Foundation has supported the implementation of project "International Translation Master Class in Poetry", with participation of poets from the Post-Soviet states: Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania. Adjara. On May 1st-3rd Batumi city hall and the youth organization "Art Wei” hosted youth theatre week.The participants are four theatre bands from four Georgian cities – Batumi, Kutaisi, Tbilisi and Rustavi. Performances were staged where both professionals and non-professionals took part.

Tbilisi.On April 30th the international association "Civitas Georgica” held a final meeting about the exhibition "Photographers without borders”. In the Caucasian House there were presented works of Georgian and Azeri photographers, showing the life of ethnic minorities living in Georgia and Azerbaijan.The event was organized by Uluchay and Civitas Georgica, and financed by Black Sea Trust and Robert Bosch Stifung.The aim of the project was to widen the spectrum of Georgian-Azeri cultural relations.

Kakheti. Heinrich Boll Foundation has organized a public lecture of cinema expert TamtaTatarashvili in the Telavi Media Cafe on "Gender and Sexuality in the Georgian Cinema". CSO representatives, journalists, students and interested persons have attended the lecture. According to the cinema expert, gender researcher TamtaTatarashvili, 8 public lectures will be delivered as part of the project in the Telavi Media cafe, under the common title "Who is Afraid of Feminism in Georgia". She says the project aims to raise awareness on the idea of equality: "The topic of my lecture was the repressed sexuality in the Georgian cinema. We discussed the representation of female and male faces in the Georgian Soviet movie. Main objective was to identify and comprehend the texts from the well-known and beloved movies with a critical eye."

Tbilisi. Public Committee "Let's Save Sakdrisi" organizes rallies since April 14. The Public Committee has released the petition, by which it solicits from the Government of Georgia and the world community active assistance in order to save "the cultural heritage of the Sakdrisi mine from further destruction". Kvemo Kartli. Youth organizations have organized a tent event on the territory adjacent to Sakdrisi. They have resorted to this form of protest to save Sakdrisi. Prior to the event, youngsters have sent a letter to President Giorgi Margvelashvili.The Sakdrisi Protection Committee demands a meeting with the President, so that "the Sakdrisi related problem, which threatens the prestige and future of our country, is solved once and for all,” the letter states. Tbilisi. Last November the Government of Georgia has submitted in the Parliament of Georgia the draft law on amendments to the Law of Georgia "on the Cultural Heritage". "Pursuant to the legislative initiative, 2nd Paragraph is added to Article 17, according to which - in special circumstances and in case of urgency of the state importance, a monument may be deprived of a status of a monument (apart from the monuments of a national category and/or included in the world heritage list) in agreement with the Ministry, by the submission of the agency authorized to initiate a draft legal act before the Government of Georgia, and based on the decree of the Government of Georgia," explains GYLA's web page in the social network.In December 2013 GYLA has addressed concerning this issue the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Tbilisi. Studio "Monitor" has published journalistic investigation - "Sakdrisi - Prime Minister's Golden Mean". The journalistic investigation tells about the "SakdrisiKachaghiani" archaeological site, which "in the opinion of part of the scientists is the oldest gold mine in the world. Yet, the Ministry of Culture has allowed the gold-mining company RMG Gold to start working on the site. Organization "Batomi" and "Tiflis Hamqari" have organized a public meeting on April 4 in the Batumi Arts University.Representatives of the Adjara Government, Adjarian Agency for Protection of Cultural Heritage, the Supreme Council of Adjara, Batumi Sakrebulo and City Hall, CSOs, city residents, urbanists, architects and other interested persons have participated in the conference, which aimed to discuss projects implemented in Batumi for rehabilitation of cultural heritage. Further, meeting participants have discussed existing problems and prospects in terms of protection of urban heritage. Along with the meeting, a photo-exhibition "Vanished Batumi" was organized.

Tbilisi. Youth movement "Davitianni" has released a statement on developments around the Sakdrisi mine."Unfortunately, as it turned out this problem was resolved unilaterally and irresponsibly. The Ministry of Culture allowed RMG Gold to continue works without inquiring into the lawfulness of the issue, claiming that the fact of existence of ancient gold mine in Sakdrisi-Kachaghiani is not confirmed. Tbilisi. Georgian Young Lawyers' Association responds to the decision of the Ministry of Culture and Historic Monuments' Protection about Sakdrisi-Khachiani gold mine. At the press conference held on March 14 GYLA voiced its position about the permit issued by the Ministry of Culture and Historic Monuments' Protection to "RMG Gold" for implementing gold mining in Sakdrisi Khachiani territory and gave negative assessment to the Ministry's decision. Kvemo Kartli. On February 25 "Siqa”-s European and Georgian volunteers held a joint movie club session. There was a screening of the animation movie "Brave” in English. The movie was attended by 25 youngsters, and was followed by the discussion about each animation hero.
