Tbilisi. CSO "Sida" has organized a conference "Woman and Migration" on July 31 with financial support of the EU. The conference was a final event of the "Woman and Migration" campaign planned as part of the "Personalized Assistance to Georgian Migrants" (G-PAM) project, implemented by CSO "Sida" together with partner organizations. The conference aimed at encouraging the face-to-face dialogue of the state, international and non-governmental organizations working on migration issues and the migrants about issues related to legal and illegal migration. Kakheti. On July 15 and 16 International Organization for Migration (IOM) held informational meeting in Gurjaani and Kvareli.The meeting aimed to provide citizens interested in migration with reliable and newest information about issues such as:legal employment opportunities abroad, employment offer reliability, visa procedures and rules of life in foreign country, studying abroad and exchange programs, permanent residence and shelter and so on. The meeting was held by informational campaign of interdepartmental coordinating board providing measures against human trafficking.

Tbilisi. GYLA and the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development held presentation of the research "Work Permit and Labor Inspection: Germany, Netherlands, Poland”. "Interest to the research was reasoned by the necessity to define issues related to labor migration since the need to create legal basis concerning labor migration is on the agenda. In view of this, the research aims to study experience of other countries about legal employment of foreigners. Kakheti. Telavi Office representatives of the Young Lawyers' Association have organized information meetings on May 29 in Lagodekhi. The meetings mainly focused on the presentation of a new project, under which the organization will render free legal aid to citizens of Georgia in emigration.

Shida Kartli. On March 10–11 consultations were held in Shida Kartli within the framework of Sida’s project "Individual Aid to Migrants in Greece and Turkey”. The participants in the consultations were representatives of "Society for the Spread of Computer Knowledge” and "Gori Information Centre”.Identical visits are planned in other regions too. Adjara. The Georgian Young Lawyers' Association and the Caucasian Institute for Peace, Development and Democracy have organized a discussion on November 21 in the Batumi Press Cafe as part of the EU-funded project Promoting Well-Managed Migration between Georgia and the EU, with participation of the CSO representatives and students. The discussion concerned the opportunities of legal migration of Georgian citizens to the EU and the threats of illegal migration.

Samtskhe-Javakheti. Representatives of the Georgian Young Lawyers' Association and the Caucasian Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development have organized a meeting with the youth on November 20 in Akhaltsikhe.Meeting participants have discussed the use of opportunities of legal migration and the threats of illegal forms of migration. This meeting was held as part of the EU-funded project "Promoting Well-Managed Migration between Georgia and the EU".

Kakheti. On November 17, 2013 Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association and the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development held meeting with local NGOs and population in GYLA’s Telavi Office. The event held within the scope of the project "Promoting Well-Managed Migration between EU and Georgia" was aimed at increasing public awareness on migration issues.  The EU funded project has been implemented by GYLA and the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development. The project focuses on four key objectives: to  foster the links between migration and development, to contribute to development of labor migration policy and legislation;  to fight illegal migration and support the fight against trafficking in human beings and to protect migrants’/returnees’ rights. 

Tbilisi. Georgian Young Lawyers' Association and the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development Held Presentation of the Research on Circular Migration Jointly with the Secretariat of the Government Commission on Migration Issues. The research concerns opportunities for developing circular migration schemes between EU and Georgia. In particular,  the research analyses the concept of circular migration, its objectives, the nature of labour migration from Georgia to EU, illegal migration, migration aspects which may be settled through circular schemes, benefits of circular migration programs for migrants, circular migration schemes for EU and the third world countries and the prospects of developing circular migration in terms of Georgia.  It is the EU funded project. Kvemo Kartli. From the middle of November, NGO "CiDA” in the frames of EU financed project G-PAM, launches the final phase of service-re-addressing training for consultants. After the training a free consultations/re-addressing network will activate for the beneficiaries, the person planning to go to Greece of Turkey or for those who already are in the above mentioned countries. The network unites 55 local consultants as well as 1 consultant from Athens (Greece) and one from Istanbul (Turkey). Source:cida.ge

Tbilisi. On July 30, Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association and the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development presented researches in frames of their joint project Georgian and EU Migration CPDD Improving Mechanisms of Migration Control between Georgia and EU. The researches examine current status of migration control and migration policy development in Georgia, analyzing migration strategy of Georgia in 2013-2015, migration legislation, means to combat illegal migration, collection of migration statistics and issues pertinent to readmission of citizens of Georgia.   Project has been funded by EU. Tbilisi. The Georgian Young Lawyers' Association and the Caucasian Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development implement the project "Promoting Well-Managed Migration between Georgia and the EU". Adjara. On November 8-9, the CSO "Borjghali” met with the Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia MurmanDumbadze, the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from Occupied Territories, Refugees and Accommodation of Georgia Davit Darakhvelidze and the Head of the Department for Migration, Repatriation and Refugees ZazaImedashvili. At the meeting they have discussed the problems in the process of accommodation of eco-migrants and the concrete measures that need to be taken in the future to fill the gaps in the field of eco-migration.It was also agreed at the meeting that the united coordination group will be set up, which will include the representatives of the state structures responsible for the accommodation of eco-migrants and their social protection and NGOs working on this topic. Special focus will be made on the preparation of legislative initiative for determining the status of eco-migrants and the development of the draft state strategy on eco-migration.CSO "Borjghali”, in partnership with the Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN) and with the financial support of the East-West Management Institute (EWMI), implements the project: "Advocacy for the Interests of Eco-Migrants”, which aims at protecting the interests of eco-migrants in Georgia and promoting the improvement of their socio-legal state. Samtskhe-Javakheti. The Akhaltsikhe Civic Engagement Center has hosted the discussion on October 26 on the women’s problems, attended by the public representatives and students.The documentary "Women from Georgia” was followed by the discussion about the socio-economic and psychological state of emigrant women. The meeting participants have developed recommendations for submitting at the session of the UN Women’s Fund. The member of the civil society advisers' council of the UN Women's Fund, expert of the project "Women Unite beyond Conflict" GulikoBekauri has attended the event as a guest.The meeting was triggered by the results of the study of the UN Women's organization, according to which 35% of women in Georgia are the victims of various types of violence, while 50% are below the poverty line, thus making them emigrate to various countries in search of jobs.

Adjara. The International Education Center organizes the film sessions in the Batumi Civic Engagement Center. Within the framework of the project "Caucasian Films" the audience will watch the films about migration, gender and the development of democracy. The film - "From Poor Georgia" - was shown on August 13 (Director – Levan Koghuashvili). The movie is about the life of Georgian women who emigrated to the US to work. The discussion was held after the session, and the public in the hall drew parallels with the similar situation in Romania.
