Kakheti. Youth festival "Peers for Equality" was held in Telavi, aimed at supporting youth health and development, and introducing gender equality through their education.
Up to 1000 youngsters have participated in the event. Sporting and cultural events have taken place throughout the day, including street basketball, soccer, wrestling, etc.
According to the Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Rati Bregadze, similar festivals are crucial for healthly lifestyle among the youth.
The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs together with the Telavi City Hall have supported the event.
The festival was organized as part of the UN joint program "Promoting Gender Equality in Georgia", implemented with support of the Swedish Government, by the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the UN Women's Fund (UN Women).
