Tbilisi. The "Charter of Journalistic Ethics" and UNICEF have presented a new project to journalists on January 28. The project that will run for 5 months from January 15 to June 1 aims to support ethical coverage of children's issues in the Georgian media. Monitoring is aimed at determining the extent of observation of international or domestic standards and ethical norms by media when covering the children's issues. Imereti. A seminar was organized on January27 for the members of the Kutaisi Youth Center on "Stigma and stereotypes on the ethnic minority issues". The event aimed to inform youngsters about the best way of integration, on how should the mentality be changed in ethnic minorities and ethnic Georgians, and on how should the stigma and stereotypes be fought against in respect of ethnic minorities. On January 23, CSO "Biliki" (path) has presented the activity report for July-December 2013 as part of the Civic Education and Teacher Training Program.Within the Program framework the members of school-based civic clubs have identified numerous problems. Representatives of the Parliament of Georgia, CSOs and business have attended the meeting opened up by the founder of the Youth Parliament of Georgia Teona Lavrelashvili. Adjara. A "Lesson of Kindness" was conducted at the initiative of youth CSO "Changes for Equal Rights" in the Batumi Public School #1 on January 23. Persons with disabilities have discussed with 6th-graders the issues associated with persons with disabilities. In particular, they have discussed incorrect terms that the public uses with them and when talking about them, as well as talked about the adaptation of schools. By means of various model games the schoolchildren were informed about the urgency to create necessary environment for persons with disabilities. This event was organized with financial support of regional organization "Mardi".

Shida Kartli. A training was delivered on January 22 in the Gori Civic Engagement Center for leader schoolchildren of the civic clubs. The clubs are established by the charity humanitarian center "Abkhazeti" as part of the project "Youth Participation and Development". This time the leader children from the clubs have mastered their journalist skills of creating and uploading of articles and blogs in the social networks. They will apply gained knowledge for active functioning of web page designed as part of the project - each of them in turn will administer the web page.

Youngsters attending the meeting were briefed about the movement "Independence and Euro-Integration" launched 10 days ago. Tbilisi. The 2014 Action Strategy of the Children and Youth Development Fund was presented on January 21. As part of the event, university students have met with the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, the Director of the Children and Youth Development Fund, as well as other representatives of the Fund. Speakers have informed the students about programs and projects that the Fund intends to implement in 2014, and which students will be eligible to participate in.This year the Fund has developed new program priorities. Special focus was made on promotion of youngsters from socially unprotected families, with disabilities, and those living in the high mountainous or seashore regions. Further, the Fund will support the implementation of academic, educational and international projects.By cooperating with the Fund, students and youth organizations will have an opportunity to be employed within the scope of their own ideas, gain work experience, and receive remuneration. Adjara. The Student-Youth Deliberation Body hosts the international youth exchange program. Activities planned as part of the project "Express Yourself!" aim at rational use of leisure time by the youth and promotion of self-realization through mastering the foundations of journalism. Throughout January 20-30 youngsters from Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania and Georgia will acquire the technique of releasing an online information newsletter and producing the TV and photo stories. The project is supported by the EU program "Eastern Partnership Youth Window" and is being implemented in Kobuleti.

Imereti. Members of the Kutaisi Youth Center have organized an information campaign on volunteering on January 16. The event aimed at informing the public about the culture, role and importance of volunteering. 35 members of the Center have participated in the information campaign. The "School of Liberalism” functioning with the Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics announces the recruitment of students.Over six months the selected students will attend public lectures on human rights, liberalism and democracy related topics, participate in discussions, search for information on various issues and argumentatively justify their positions. Further, they will produce the talk show "Lib Time” and develop journalistic materials to be uploaded on the School’s blog.To be eligible, a potential attendee must be either a senior pupil or a bachelor’s program student of any faculty.
