On June 25, the Civil Society Institute (CSI) conducted an online consultation - webinar on issues related to taxation of civil society organizations. Representatives of 31 civil society organizations participated in the webinar. The online consultation covered such issues as: taxation and administration, including actual issues entailed by the coronavirus. The online consultation - webinar was carried out within the framework of the “Civil Society Sustainability Initiative” project, which is implemented by the consortium: the Civil Society Institute (CSI), the Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG), the Center for Training and Consultancy (CTC), and the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) under the supervision of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS). The project is financially supported by the European Union and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

Within the framework of the “Civil Society Sustainability Initiative” project there was carried out an interesting information campaign aiming to stop the spread of COVID 19. Bread was sold with special information labels - a total of 173 760 units. Besides, as part of this campaign, 22 500 reusable bags were distributed to the population in ten regions of Georgia. These bags had also information related to COVID 19 preventive measures, as well as the unified hotline of the Public Safety Management Center - 112, Ministry of Health, National Center for Disease Control and Government printed on them in Georgian, Azerbaijani and Armenian languages. This campaign was planned by the Education Development and Employment Center within the framework of the “Civil Society Sustainability Initiative” project, implemented by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) in collaboration with the Civil Society Institute (CSI), Center for Training and Consultancy (CTC), Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG) and Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC). Georgian Civil Society Sustainability Initiative is funded by the European Union (EU) and co-funded by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS). „Currently, the campaign covers 647 pre-selected locations (cities, villages, regional centres and settlements) throughout all ten regions of Georgia. As one of the upcoming actions, 22.500 grocery bags with imprinted information on preventive measures against the spread of the virus as well contact details of relevant institutions such as the Emergency Response Centre 112, the Public Safety Management Centre, the Ministry of Health, the National Centre for Disease Control and the Government’s encompassing 1st-level hotline, well distributed. They will be handed out free-of-charge by grocery stores operating in rural communities. With the engagement of project regional hubs, partnering businesses, the local self-governments, volunteer groups as well as local and international organisations, the campaign aims to inform and update the population about measures to protect their health and stay safe. An information campaign for prevention of COVID-19 spread is being launched by the EU-funded project “Georgian Civil Society Sustainability Initiative” in 647 identified high-risk locations throughout 10 regions of Georgia. ▪️ Among other activities, non-traditional information delivery channels will be applied: - 173.760 loaves of bread, with special information stickers, to be distributed within the target population, - 22.500 bags for grocery with relevant information will be delivered to groceries in the villages for free-of-charge distribution. Tbilisi. “Civil Society Sustainability Initiative” implementer organizations closely follow recent developments occurring around a new pandemic, #COVID-19, both in Georgia and worldwide. “We have been strictly adhering to the recommendations provided by the World Health Organization, the Government of Georgia and the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health of Georgia since the very beginning of spread of the virus. The health and well-being of employees, beneficiaries and partners is of prime importance for the members of our consortium. Once the risk of transmission of the virus increased, all consortium member organizations took respective measures to reduce likelihood of further spreading of the virus, more specifically: postponed international and domestic business trips of staff and experts; switched meetings and events to online mode; introduced special measures of hygiene at their offices”, - is noted in the statement.
