Tbilisi. CSO "Young Barristers" announces a contest for the law faculty students of the Georgian higher education institutions. "Who will appear on a million case in court? Guria. The "Adult Education Center" opened up in the Chokhatauri Municipality. The project was implemented with support of the Georgia Office of the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (DVV international). The Guria Youth Resource Center is a partner organization of this program in Guria. Centers founded by DVV international currently function successfully in seven municipalities. Annually they offer education programs and activities to over 5000 beneficiaries, thus assisting them in employment and improving quality of life and socio-psychological environment in the communities.

Tbilisi. The assembly hall of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University will host an information meeting on the ERASMUS MUNDUS program on November 6 at 12:00. The meeting aims to liaise students of all courses of higher education institutions accredited in Georgia, young researchers and academic and administrative personnel with coordinators of the EU-funded ERASMUS MUNDUS projects BACKIS, HERMES, and EMBER and representatives of the European universities. Tbilisi. Tbilisi State University hosted on 21st October Erasmus+ Info Day, attended by over 100 representatives of HEIs. Tbilisi. In the frameworks of the project: ,,Together for a Support of Children’s Rights and Democracy’’ Conference -,,Human Rights and Democracy in Schools’’ was held by Civitas Georgica. The conference played a role of the platform for summarizing various activities implemented on the different stages of the project and sharing the gained experience. Project beneficiaries: The teachers from four municipalities of Shida Kartli and participating students made the presentations of the projects implemented in public schools. At the end of the conference the group of trainers selected within the project was presented to the audience, The trainers are going to visit Poland for a study purpose in the beginning of November, 2014. Tbilisi. "Young Barristers" released a statement about suspended student’s status. "The organization offers the ministry to establish new approaches and criteria, when the state take commitment to help to the students who suspended status to continue their studies. However, it should not be universal in nature, but intended only for those students who really need support from the state to cover the tuition fees and despite the good academic performance could not afford to pay". Tbilisi. As part of the project supported by the Heinrich Boll Foundation - "Raising awareness in the energy sector to promote introduction of sustainable energy policy in Georgia", Association "Green Alternative" has organized a two-day training for representatives of CSOs, media organizations, and informal associations of the civil society. Training participants have discussed Georgia's challenges in the energy sector in view of obligations taken under the Georgia-EU Association Agreement. Training participants were briefed about long-term planning of the energy sector, problems related to construction of hydro power plants, requirements of the European legislation on energy efficiency and renewable energy, as well as Georgia's challenges in this respect. Tbilisi. The Civil Society Institute (CSI) has completed selecting the participants for the e-learning program. Over 900 individuals were interested in registering for the first learning cycle. After reviewing the applications, the Institute has selected 40 students for each course. Field of activity was one of the selection criteria - advantage was given to CSO representatives and students. Geographic area was another key criterion - 75% of students registered on e-learning courses represent various regions of Georgia. It is possible to take e-learning courses without registration, with a free listener's status. Classes on e-learning.ge take off on October 27. Second e-learning cycle will be announced in the spring. Mtskheta-Mtianeti. CSO "Article 42 of the Constitution" has organized a meeting and delivered consultations on October 7 in the Gudamakari Valley, borough Kitokhi. The meeting aimed to raise awareness on fundamental rights and freedoms of women living in rural areas, enhance the role of the civil society, and stimulate democratic processes. After the discussion, the organization's lawyers have provided legal consultations to participants of the discussion, as well as the interested part of the District population. The meeting was organized as part of the project "Empowering Women for Social Development".The project is implemented with support of the "German Agency for International Cooperation" (GIZ) and covers 15 districts and villages of Georgia. Tbilisi. Registration of persons/entities willing to participate in projects of CSO "Citizen" has launched today. "Citizen" has presented two projects – "Civil Education Olympiad" and "Students for Self-Government" on October 6. "Civil Education Olympiad" aims to promote civil values among schoolchildren. The Civil Society Institute has ended the regional tour on October 2 in Telavi. The Institute's representatives have organized information meetings in 7 cities, at which they have informed CSO representatives, students and interested persons about the new Georgian portal for distance learning - E-learning.ge. The attendees were presented also with a book published by the Civil Society Institute - "Civil Society - social and political essays".

Tbilisi. CSO "Society and Banks" has opened the Economic Media School for the second class of journalists.The project is implemented together with international organization "Junior Achievement". The Media School aims to raise journalists' financial education. Second class of the School includes 20 journalists representing 19 currently operating media outlets in Georgia. Journalists will learn the foundations of economy through a special course and textbooks.Trainings will be delivered by the trainers of "Junior Achievement" and the invited lecturers. Tbilisi. The US Embassy Cultural Attaché James Dewey has opened the US annual, 5th Education Exhibition on September 23 in "Radisson Blu Iveria". Tbilisi. To enhance the quality of professional education in Georgia, the Millennium Challenge Corporation is investing 16 million USD. The Millennium Challenge Account Georgia is launching the project "Professional Education for Economic Development" in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science. For school children exchange program (FLEX) for future leaders has been announced. The first round will start on September 27 and participants will have opportunity to take testing in Kutaisi, Gori, Borjomi, Akhaltsikhe, Batumi, Zugdidi, Telavi, Marneuli and Tbilisi for a month period.
