Tbilisi. Discussion of the case of femicide sent from Georgia to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) is underway. The case is one of the incidents that occurred in 2014 when a former husband has murdered a woman as a result of domestic violence. The woman has addressed to the law enforcement agencies for violence, but they did not take appropriate measures to prevent the femicide. Tbilisi. Women's Movement responds to a statement of Minister of Economy – ''There are housewives who declare that they do not want to work. Besides, there are also people of various categories who say they do not want to work at all''. ''According to the latest data, women who, in the opinion of the Minister, ''do not want to work'' spend thrice more time on non-paid household activities than men. Employed women spend 42 hours, on average, on work at home – which indicates that they carry out double workload. 49% of women saying they do not work declare that a reason to it is domestic duties'', - the statement reads. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, for review, in which lawsuit the student demands abolishment of rating of her master thesis and re-defending of the master thesis before an independent commission. This morning, Tbilisi Appeal Court's chamber: judge Diana Berekashvili, judge Ketevan Dugladze, judge Besarion Tabagua, delivered precedential decision on workplace sexual harassment and ruled for Tatia Samkharadze. Tbilisi Appeal Court ruled against Shalva Ramishvili as he illegally used his power and sexually harassed employee Tatia Samkharadze. ''It’s important to note that 2018 Presidential election campaign, both the first and second rounds, have been characterized by poor political culture, revealed in personal attacks as well as in the absence of issue-based platforms. Gender, Agriculture and Rural Development in Georgia – new gender assessment report was introduced by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with the support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation. Breeding livestock, producing crops and household goods, fetching water and firewood, housework, cooking for family, looking after children, the elderly and sick members of the family – this is the short list of the rural women’s obligations in Georgia. Tbilisi. Women's Movement releases a statement regarding abduction of a 17-year-old girl from her own home by using force 4 days ago in a village of Lambalo. ''There are frequent cases of kidnaping girls for marriage purposes among national minorities residing in Georgia. Investigative structures virtually ignore such cases. The state waits until the families find consensus and then either stops an investigation completely or imposes a GEL 5000 plea agreement to be signed'', - the statement reads. Gender, agriculture and rural development in Georgia – was the main topic of discussion at the meeting where FAO brought together all the stakeholders and implementing partners of the EU-supported European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD). The participants talked about the existing gender inequalities in agriculture, their causes, and their impact on the economic and social development of rural areas.
