This will help young people to choose the right profession and plan the future accordingly. The Public Defender of Georgia addressed the Government of Georgia and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia with a proposal relating to the cycle of lectures organized for public school teachers. The Public Defender considers that the cycle of public lectures on History of Religion conducted for public school teachers did not comply with the legal principle of separating public schools from religious associations. It should be noted that both orthodox teachers and representatives of other religions had to listen to orthodox preaching. Today Public Defender met with schoolchildren of Shida Kartli Villages to discuss the importance and role of human rights education, as well as the activities and mandate of the Public Defender in this process. Over 20 students from different schools of Keda municipality participated in a discussion on climate change and sustainable waste management organized by EU-supproted Keda Local Action Group (LAG). The event, which took place at Keda LAG office within the EU-funded ‘Keda LEADER’ project, aimed at raising awareness of the municipality’s youth on environmental issues and facilitating their involvement in respective activities.  The discussion preceeded by screening of 1-minute thematic films selected within the international Mobile Film Festival. EU and UNDP support innovative business ideas for rural municipalities in Ajara.  Forty local entrepreneurs joined a three-day business bootcamp in Chakvi in November, designed to show how to start, run and grow a rural business enterprise, generate creative ideas and find the realistic ways of their implementation. EU and UNDP assist Georgia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture in reforming its human resource management system.  Thirty human resource professionals from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia attended a three-day training on Human Resource Management and Organizational Learning. Supported by the European Union (EU) under the ENPARD programme, the training was organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers Georgia (PwC). The exercise covered some of the critical areas in human resource management, including performance and talent management, learning and development, employee relations and success planning. The purpose of this training was to ensure compliance of work performance of the local self-governance representatives with the requirements of Law on Competition. During April-July 2019, with the initiative of the Competition Agency of Georgia, support of GIZ Legal Program, and technical assistance of the Academy of Ministry of Finance of Georgia fourteen training sessions were conducted on practical application of certain articles of the Law of Georgia on Competition in six selected regions of Georgia, which totally trained 420 local officials. Tbilisi. Third Leadership Academy was held in Tbilisi. Human Rights House Tbilisi is implementing a project with IREX Europe, a French-based NGO, aimed at promoting and strengthening the leadership skills of young women human rights defenders.  This 26-month project covers 5 countries of Eurasia with the support of the European Commission. The leadership academy in Georgia is co-financed by the Human Rights House Foundation.  About 30 young human rights activists from Georgia and Azerbaijan participated in the Third Leadership Academy. EU and Government of Georgia launch new 150 M GEL programme supporting vocational education and labour market development in Georgia.  At a special event held at Gldani Vocational Education and Training Centre, Mikheil Batiashvili, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Carl Hartzell, EU Ambassador to Georgia and Cesare Onestini, European Training Foundation (ETF) Directorlaunched the second phase of the Skills4Jobs programme in Georgia. The EU-supported Khulo Local Action Group (LAG) has launched a new project “Promotion of service quality development in the guest houses in Khulo Municipality”.  The four months project aims to improve the quality of knowledge in the field of guesthouse management, service and marketing through retraining the guesthouse operators from Khulo municipality. Overall, 13 guesthouse operators have been selected to participate in the trainings.
